(of muscle action) developing tension while the muscle is prevented from contracting. 3 (of a drawing etc.) with the plane of projection at equal angles to the three principal axes of the object shown. 4 Math. (of a transformation) without change of shape or size. Derivatives isometrically adv. isometry n. (in sense 4). Etymology: Gk isometria equality of measure (as ISO-, -METRY)
