мэр (города) В США различают мэра с чисто представительскими функциями в моделях управления "городская комиссия" commission plan и "совет-управляющий" council-manager plan и мэра, осуществляющего исполнительную власть с большими mayor-manager plan, strong-mayor plan или меньшими weak-mayor plan полномочиями. В первом случае мэр избирается городской комиссией или городским советом, во втором - населением города. Мэры крупных городов обычно играют важную политическую роль, известны случаи, когда мэры гг. Нью-Йорка и Чикаго пользовались большим влиянием в стране, чем губернаторы штатов
